Born in 1956, George Vukson came to Alaska in 1977 after studying Fine Art at the University of Wisconsin. Vukson traveled north in search of his two passions: wildlife and art. Today he combines these passions by spending his winters carving materials unique to the far North: fossil whale bone, moose antler, sheep horn, fossil mammoth ivory - and does commercial fishing in the summer, while his autumns are spent as a hunting guide in the Wrangell St. Elias mountains. Vukson currently resides in Wasilla, AK with his wife and two children.
